The big value of McDonald's is it is (at least was) inexpensive fast food that was extremely consistent regardless of when or where you went. If you have 30 minutes between two meetings, only had $10, and a McDonald's is nearby, you could get a meal you know you enjoyed.

The McDonald's in Paraparaumu, New Zealand, had its dining area in an old train carriage from the 1950s all through my childhood (late 80s, 90s). Then in the 2000s they re-designed it into . The old one even had a miniature train which went around the whole restaurant at head level in a 15-minute circuit (including above the registers, it was cool as as a kid).
